summer - going fast!
Wow - my last post was in snowy winter - and today is, as usual, hot and sunny! We did have some rain overnight a week or two back, but that was the only rain since June.
We - mostly Grant! - have been busy on our basement finishing. The new basement bedroom is now totally ready, with furniture and a bed made and waiting for our first overnight visitor(s). Grant is almost finished the drywall in the family room, so we will be painting soon. This afternoon I plan to check out the flooring at Cranbrook Flooring, to see if they have the vinyl strip flooring we are looking for.
I spent a few hours totally updating our CedarHill Homestay website which was definitely overdue. It now is accurate for our Cranbrook home rather than Nanaimo. Still need to add more information/photos - but I think everything works on it - please check it out:
This past weekend Grant actually had two days off together - we got a lot done on Saturday, but by Sunday we sort of fizzled! He's working mostly 1130/830 this week, so he is getting some done before work, but nothing in the evening! With luck we should be ready to paint the new family room this Friday when Grant is off next. Then flooring is next! Can't wait til we get furniture in the family room - because that means we can start having more room upstairs.
Since the kitchen reno won't be until next spring for sure, I came up with the idea of sort of 'refreshing' the current kitchen so it will definitely look better, and hopefully work a bit better. I think some greenish-cream paint on the old cabinets will look great - so much better than the 'Chinese red' that is there now. And then cream on all the window/door trim. Even though it will all be torn out next year, it should make the place feel brighter and more ours.
