moving!!

It has been a fair bit of work - but we have done it! We've sold our house 'fsbo' - privately, not represented by a Realtor. And we are using a Notary and not a Lawyer. This is definitely not our first house sale, so we know what we are doing. We sold in a 'hot market' here in Nanaimo, and have now just bought in an equally hot market (!!!) in Port Alberni. With our home we had one deal fall through because the buyer had financing difficulties, but we are very happy with the offer we ended up with. And we are also happy that a young family will be following us as the next owners of our house.

Today I've spent time on the phone and computer setting up a mortgage (bridge financing only) and also Home Inspection. Hope to also have contractors set to meet me the same morning next week when the Home Inspection is there.

The home we are buying in Port Alberni is older - built in 1947 - but has some interesting features. How about an 800 sq ft attached garage/shop? We have definite plans for the back part of that space! But initially it will be very useful to unload everything and use as a 'staging area' for unpacking. It really should make moving in a lot less of a gigantic mess! Luckily we plan to have Bridge Financing between when we take possession of the new house and when we have to be out of our current place - a little over a month. Time to do some very essential renos! The current Master Bedroom in the new house will not fit a queen bed and two bedside tables! So we hope to take over the entire second floor and turn that into our master suite. The main floor master will then become our Den/Home Office!

Today is our Wedding Anniversary - so the plan is to go for dinner at the Crow & Gate this evening. Very fitting!
